This past Sunday, March 23rd, 23andMe filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The filing raises uncertainties about the future of consumer’s genetic data. 
“23andMe holds very sensitive information about individuals who use its services,” said Attorney General Keith Ellison. “Their bankruptcy proceedings raise reasonable questions about the future of 23andMe and how this important data will be safeguarded.”

Attorney General Ellison Secures $35 Insulin for Minnesotans

The Minnesota Attorney General’s Office is traveling across the state on a Clean Slate Tour to help Minnesotans seal their records and get a fresh start for the future. Please check out the future locations of the expungement clinics this year and pre-register for the one closest to you. There is no cost for attending an expungement clinic. The only official document you need to bring is your I.D./driver’s license

In February, March, and April of 2025, Attorney General Keith Ellison will host a series of community forums across the state. At these events, the Office will listen and share more about the work we’re doing to stand up for Minnesotans in the face of extreme executive overreach, threats to our immigrant neighbors, attacks on the rights of LGBTQIA+ Minnesotans, increased economic pressure on our farmers and rural communities, and other community concerns. The report examines the harms these technologies cause, analyzes the specific design features causing those harms, evaluates previous legislative efforts to correct these issues, and provides policy recommendations for the Minnesota legislature that will curb these harms and improve the well-being of young Minnesotans.
